- SQL Developer runs this which checks for java 9 then 8. We don't yet support (lack of a ton of testing) java 10. You went to new for us. Back up to 8 or 9 and should be fine.
- Installing an Oracle database on a Mac computer is a bit different to installing it on a Windows or Linux computer. Oracle doesn’t support running an Oracle database directly on a Mac computer. You can’t install Oracle Express, for example, in the same way that you can on a Windows computer. The good news is that you can use a Virtual Machine.

This guide assumes that you plan to download SQL Developer and run it as a freestanding tool.
Mac users: can open a terminal window and run the command javac which should force OS/X to look for the most recent JDK to download and install. Step 2 Download the appropriate version of SQL developer for your platform located here and proceed with the installation for your specific operating system. PL/SQL Developer by IFS Allround Automations is a feature-rich Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that was designed to help users develop units for Oracle databases using PL/SQL programming. Sadly, there is no version of PL/SQL Developer for Mac, but there are some other tools that can prove to be quite useful.
